RIO DE JANEIRO
Stunning natural attractions, spontaneous energy that turns everything into a celebration, and iconic monuments famous worldwide make Rio de Janeiro an incomparable and unforgettable destination.
With 450 years of history, Rio hosts fascinating treasures in its museums with enviable collections. Land of Carnival and Samba, it also features numerous theaters, entertainment venues, shopping centers, and gastronomic spots open year-round.
But it is the combination of geographic features—the sea, mountains, and forest—with human presence that gives Rio de Janeiro its unique character. Several points around the city are surrounded by extraordinary landscapes. It was the first city in the world to be designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Beyond its most famous attractions, such as Christ the Redeemer, an art déco statue of Jesus Christ, and Sugarloaf Mountain, a complex of peaks, the city offers countless other activities focused on nature, adventure, religion, history, and culture. These include tours through the Botanical Garden, visits to the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Museum of Modern Art, exploring the famous Maracanã stadium, visiting the Sambadrome, kayaking in Hawaiian-style boats across Guanabara Bay, and the possibility of flying over the city starting from Pedra Bonita ramp.
In Tijuca National Park, the world's largest urban forest, there are several trails allowing deep contact with the lush city’s nature. Besides preserving one of the remnants of the Atlantic Forest, the park protects springs and features several waterfalls, some suitable for swimming.
All this and much more make Rio de Janeiro one of the most beautiful cities in South America and the world.

Frequently Asked Questions
• What is the best time to visit Rio de Janeiro?
Rio de Janeiro can be visited year-round. Unlike other parts of Brazil, it does not have excessively rainy seasons. That doesn’t mean the weather is always perfect—there are short periods with rainy days or slightly cooler temperatures caused by cold fronts. From December to April are the hottest months with the most rainfall. This period is famous for events like New Year’s and Carnival. From March to July, the weather is more pleasant, and the area is quieter, making it a great time to visit. July, August, and September also have mild, comfortable weather suitable for cultural visits, beaches with fewer people, and enjoyable climate. October, November, and December are also recommended periods, as days start getting longer, allowing for more time to enjoy the city.
• Are there accessible beaches?
Yes, during December and January, the "Beach for All" project operates. It runs on weekends between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM and has volunteers, amphibious chairs, and everything needed to enjoy the beach. The access is free and open to everyone
.
How accessible is the city?
The city has some adapted points of interest and tours designed so that people with disabilities can enjoy it. Examples include the "Beach for All" project, which, although not operational year-round, provides accessibility for those who wish to enjoy the beach and the sea comfortably. Another example is the adapted trails in Tijuca Forest, as well as museums and the main attractions around the city.
Although the city is flat, most sidewalks are made of small cobblestones, which are not the most comfortable. Additionally, many of these sidewalks have ramps that are defective in several sections.
Nevertheless, this does not prevent people with disabilities from enjoying, exploring, and experiencing this wonderful city, as we provide the best ways to move around independently within it.
How many days are recommended to visit the city?
At minimum, it is recommended to spend 3 nights in Rio, but there are many sights and activities to explore, along with a variety of cultural programs and events throughout the year. Therefore, a stay of 5 or 7 nights, depending on interest, is ideal.
